The short answer

Tourists need a valid passport, a visit visa or entry stamp and a valid driving licence from their home country. Visitors from some countries can drive on their home licence, while others also need an International Driving Permit (IDP). UAE residents need an Emirates ID and a UAE driving licence.

Documents for tourists and visitors

To rent a car in Dubai as a visitor, you need your original passport, your UAE visit visa or entry stamp, and a valid driving licence from your home country. Copies are checked before the car is handed over.

Drivers from many countries, including the GCC, the United States, the United Kingdom and most of Europe, can drive on their home licence as tourists. Drivers from other countries need an International Driving Permit together with their national licence. If you are not sure, send us a photo of your licence and we will confirm before you book.

Documents for UAE residents

Residents must drive on a UAE driving licence and show a valid Emirates ID. A foreign licence is no longer valid for driving once you hold UAE residency.

Age and driving experience

The minimum age at AURELIS is 21 for prestige models and 25 for selected high-performance supercars. For the most powerful cars we may also ask for proof of driving experience.

All requirements are listed on our rental requirements page.

Can I send the documents before I arrive?

Yes, and it saves time. Send clear photos of your passport, visa and licence on WhatsApp when you book, and the car can be waiting for you at the hotel or at Dubai Airport when you land. The originals are checked at handover.
